The Charles H. MacNider Art Museum’s 2018 Winter Film Series, Films in February, Movies in March, begins at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3 with "The Eagle Huntress (G)." Admission is free, open to the public, and popcorn will be provided.
The film follows Aisholpan, a 13-year-old girl, as she trains to become the first female in 12 generations of her Kazakh family to become an eagle hunter, and rises to the pinnacle of a tradition that has been handed down from father to son for centuries.
The 2016 documentary runs 87 minutes.
The films range from powerful documentaries to thought-provoking foreign and independent films: Feb. 10 – "Cezanne and I;" Feb. 17 – "I Am Not Your Negro;" Feb. 24 – "Rebel in the Rye;" March 3 – "SEED: The Untold Story;" March 10 – "The Prison in Twelve Landscape."
