"Second Time Around: The Hubcap as Art" opens Saturday, Jan. 27, in the Charles H. MacNider Art Museum’s Kinney-Lindstrom Gallery, and runs through March 14.
Objects range from one hubcap to a series of objects. Some are kinetic and incorporate sound, while others reference environmental issues. The exhibit inspires viewers to reflect on the role of consumption in American culture and stimulates thinking about ways to re-use and recycle.
This exhibition is toured by ExhibitsUSA, a national program of Mid-America Arts Alliance. ExhibitsUSA sends more than 25 exhibitions on tour to more than 100 small- and mid-sized communities every year. For more about ExhibitsUSA, email MoreArt@maaa.org or visit www.eusa.org. The exhibition is sponsored locally by Mason City Clinics and the Murphy Charitable Foundation.
