MASON CITY | Straight No Chaser brings its “New Old Fashioned” tour to North Iowa Community Auditorium on the NIACC campus.

The concert, at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, will be presented by TeamQuest as part of NIACC's 2015-2016 Performing Arts and Leadership Series.

Atlantic Records' recording group Straight No Chaser (SNC) has emerged as a phenomenon with a massive fan-base, numerous TV appearances and proven success with CD releases, according to a news release.

“The New Old Fashioned,” the a cappella group's fifth full-length release, arrives Oct. 30, featuring an array of songs that explore several musical eras.

Straight No Chaser features 10 unadulterated human voices joining to make extraordinary music with a sense of humor. On the road, the group has built a reputation as an unforgettable live act.

“The New Old Fashioned Tour” follows the ensemble's recently concluded “The Happy Hour Tour,” an epic 2014-15 world trek that saw the group perform more than 67 shows in the United States, as well as dates in more than 15 countries, including Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Czech Republic, Austria, Holland, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Ireland and the United Kingdom.

“Under the Influence” (2013), the group's fourth full-length release, was produced by Mark Kibble, a founding member of the legendary a capella group Take 6 and one of Straight No Chaser’s primary influences. It included collaborations with some of popular music’s best such as Phil Collins, Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Dolly Parton, Rob Thomas, Seal, Sara Bareilles and Jason Mraz.

Noted for its trademark takes on Yuletide favorites, Straight No Chaser celebrated last Christmas with a new version of its hit EP, “Under the Influence: Holiday Edition” featuring “Text Me Merry Christmas (featuring Kristen Bell).” The track was an immediate holiday hit, garnering more than 1 million individual views in the 24 hours following its YouTube premiere (www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmhfdQlOiy0).

Other highlights included renditions of “White Christmas (featuring Cee Lo Green),” “Merry Christmas Baby (featuring Otis Redding)” and a rendition of Paul McCartney’s classic “Wonderful Christmastime” that featured vocals by McCartney.

Tickets are available at the NIACC Box Office, 888-466-4222, extension 4188, and online at www.niacc.edu/boxoffice.
