NORTHWOOD — Northwood will celebrate its 13th annual Founders Day on Saturday, Sept. 10.
The day starts with an omelet breakfast by the Northwood Lions Club at the Masonic Temple from 7 to 9:30 a.m. Breakfast will include, omelets, muffins, juice, coffee and milk. The building is handicap-accessible.
The Aristocrats Classic car show will be on Central Avenue, with registration from 8-11 a.m. Trophies for the top 35 cars will be awarded at 3 p.m.
The Cemetery Walk will be at 9 a.m. in Sunset Rest Cemetery featuring the lives of Howard Vorland, William Stotts, a Civil War veteran, and the three Abrahams children who died in a fire in Northwood.
The third annual 5K fun/run will begin at 9 a.m. Registration is 8-9 a.m. at the Shelter House in Central Park. For information call Jolene Cotter, 641-324-1802 or 641-390-1347.
There will be a variety show featuring The Raiders of the Lost Art, Denny’s School of Dance and Take Three on the Showmobile stage. The show is free, sponsored by the Northwood Special Events Committee.
Drawings for Northwood Dollars will be held between acts. Sign up for the drawings from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Norwegian Goodie Booth. You must be present to win.
There will be vendors on Central Avenue, including Norwegian Goodies, food and drinks. There will also be inflatables for kids, a Stitches In Time quilt presentation at the Historical Museum, root beer floats and more.
Several class reunions will be held that weekend. Museums, restaurants and stores will be open.
