CLEAR LAKE — A full weekend of color and kites is slated for Friday and Saturday, Feb. 17-18, starting with the Clear Lake Arts Center’s Color the Wind Art Festival.
This indoor art show and sale will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the Sukup Performing Arts Wing and Hanson Gallery at the arts center, 17 S Fourth St., downtown Clear Lake.
Featured artists are James Bearden, Laurie Ryan Borgman, Cherie Courter, Karla Haugen, Elizabeth Bucknell-Morse, Heidi Kayser, Brenda Nesheim-Fuller, Amy Palmer, Sue Soenen, Linda Sorensen, Mariella TerBeest-Schladweiler, Joan Webster-Vore and Mary Weisgram.
The Color the Wind Indoor Art Festival is sponsored by Gary and Sandy Nyhus.
Friday night will also feature a Meet the Kite Pilot Reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Meet the people behind the kites – the designers, technicians, engineers and pilots. It will include music by Dan Mark, appetizers and a cash bar (beer and wine). This event is free, sponsored by Mark and Lynne Scribbins.
Color the Wind Kite Festival is 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, wind, weather and ice conditions permitting. The flying field is located on the lake at the west end of Main Avenue near City Park and the seawall.
A free Creative Kid’s Art Activity will be offered from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at the arts center, sponsored by the Clear Lake Noon Lions Club.
