ST. ANSGAR — Local rock and roll band Deadnote is celebrating the release of its first 10-song album, “Redhead,” in St. Ansgar.

“Redhead” includes nine songs written over the past year by the band, and one song, “Cornered Like a Dog,” written and produced in less than a day while in the recording studio.

The band is Will Bartz on lead vocals and guitar, Cody Fedeler on lead guitar, Reid Clagget on bass guitar and backup vocals, AJ Wilder on drums, vocals and backup vocals, and Marena Bartz on keyboards and backup vocals.

Will Bartz is a 2009 St. Ansgar High School graduate. Marena Bartz and Wilder will graduate from St. Ansgar High School this year. Fedeler is a 2010 graduate of Central Springs High School, and Clagget is a 2009 graduate of Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock High School.

“The band is extremely excited and proud about the music we created and we’re going to continue to write and produce the rock and roll we love,” said Will Bartz.

In August of 2011, the band traveled to San Antonio, Texas, to record its album with Joe Trevino at Blue Cat Studios.

Trevino, sound engineer and producer, is a four-time Grammy Award winner. He has engineered sound for many years, working with bands such as Los Lobos, Los Lonely Boys, Jet, Jimmy Vaughn (Fabulous Thunderbirds), and The Texas Tornados, earning several Grammy nominations, and winning four Grammy Awards.

The CD will be for sale at 4th Street Coffee Company in St. Ansgar and can be purchased by calling Andrew Wilder, 641-420-6510, or AJ Wilder, 641-420-3166, or by email at
