BRITT, IOWA | Carol Jean (Marth) Perkins, 79, of Northwood, Iowa and formerly of Britt passed away on January 17, 2018 at Westview Care Center in Britt.

A funeral service for Carol J. Perkins will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Chapel, 178 Center Street West in Britt, with Pastor Wendy Johannesen officiating. Burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Britt.

Visitation for Carol Perkins will be held from 12:00 PM until time of the service on Saturday at Ewing Funeral Chapel, 178 Center Street West in Britt.

Carol, the daughter of Otto and Elsie (Daake) Marth was born on July 7, 1938 in Little Cedar, Iowa. She grew up in the Charles City and Rockford area.

Carol graduated from Charles City High School in 1957. After a short romance by an adventurous military man, she married the love of her life, Marvin Dean Perkins on July 7, 1957 in Charles City, Iowa. She traveled the world while raising six children. In 1974, the couple moved cross-country from California to Britt after her husband's 20 year commitment serving his country.

Carol was quiet, caring, and a loving person with an occasional feisty Irish temper. She stayed busy with her rowdy husband and rambunctious kids. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, cross-stitching, baking, camping, fishing and a little Bluegrass. She always enjoyed family events and reunions.

Carol is survived by her six children, Debra (James) Herweyer of Northwood, Iowa, Daniel (Esther) Perkins of Britt, Iowa, Darin (Amy) Perkins of Rapid City, South Dakota, Donavon (Gudrun) Perkins of Calcium, New York, Deanna (Scott) Haugen of Forest City, Iowa, David (Julie) Perkins of Albert Lea, Minnesota; 24 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; and 3 brothers.

Carol is preceded in death by her husband Marvin in 2009, her parents, and one brother.

The Perkins family would like to thank Hospice of North Iowa, the staff of Westview Care Center in Britt, Iowa, and the Lutheran Retirement Home of Northwood, Iowa for their compassionate care.

Carol's caring and loving ways will be forever missed by her family.
