Syttende Mai (or the 17th of May) marks Norway’s declaration of independence and is a celebration of the 1814 signing of Norway’s constitution and independence from Sweden. This day is also called Constitution Day and National Day and is a great spring festival in Norway.

Trinity Lutheran Church located at 213 N Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, will celebrate their Norwegian heritage by observing Syttende Mia with a Lutefisk and Meatball Dinner on Friday, May 18. Dinner will be served in the Fellowship Hall at 5:30 p.m. Menu: Pickled Herring and Crackers - Lutefisk and Melted Butter - Meatballs & Gravy - Mashed Potatoes - Vegetable – Cranberry Fluff Salad - Lefse and Scandinavian treats including Rommegrot!! Seating is limited.

Tickets are on sale at Trinity’s office or you may call and get information on ordering tickets at 641-423-0536. Cost $18.Tickets must be purchased prior to the event.
