The Mason City Earth Day Committee has set dates for the city's 25th annual community-wide cleanup and festival.

From April 16 – 30 cleanup teams are asked to collect trash in designated areas of Mason City. Businesses, organizations, families of all sizes, and individuals are encouraged to be part of a team.  Garbage bags and gloves will be provided for teams and disposal of trash will be handled by the City Sanitation Dept.

To register a team, host a booth at the festival, or become a sponsor please contact or visit the Mason City Earth Day website at: www.earthdaynorthiowa.org; or contact the Mason City Volunteer Coordinator at 641-423-3372. Last year over 500 volunteers spent a total of 975 hours cleaning up Mason City, collecting 3.5 tons of trash!

The Mason City Earth Day Festival will be held at the Lime Creek Nature Center just north of Mason City on Saturday, April 28 from 10 a.m. – Noon. It will feature food, music, educational booths and Earth Day-related activities for persons of all ages, according to Missy Nicholson, Earth Day Committee Chair.  Tree seedlings will be given away to youth, and several prizes will be awarded to cleanup teams and individuals at the end of the festival. For more information visit the Mason City Earth Day website or Facebook page.
