Eagan promoted at First Citizens Bank
First Citizens Bank announced the promotion of Jana Eagan as personal banker at the west Mason City location. She previously was a teller at the downtown Mason City location. Jana previously worked at Great Clips in Mason City and joined First Citizens in August 2015. She lives in Rockwell with her husband and two children.
Ostrander joins Mason City Motor Company
Tim Ostrander has joined the Mason City Motor Company sales team. Ostrander is a native of the Mason City area, currently lives in Ventura, and has more than 25 years of automotive sales experience.
Trade group honors former One Vision CEO
The ANCOR Foundation inducted former One Vision CEO John Severtson into its Legacy Leaders Circle at its annual meeting April 17 in Alexandria, Virginia. The award honors long-time members who made significant contributions to the group, which includes more than 1,400 intellectual and developmental disability providers. Severtson served as CEO of One Vision, formerly Opportunity Village, from 2002 to 2014.
Iowa Auto Dealers give grant to NIACC
The Iowa Automobile Dealers Foundation for Education awarded $5,100 to North Iowa Area Community College to further automotive education, according to a release. The grant will be used to purchase a battery kit for the auto tech and diesel tech programs.
Charles City boutique earns small business award
America’s SBDC Iowa named Mara Bridal & Special Occasion Boutique of Charles City the winner of the SBDC’s statewide Business of the Month Award. Mara Bridal & Special Occasion Boutique opened in November 2017 and is owned by Tiffany Rottinghaus. The store offers gowns and formal wear, and has two full-time and three part-time employees.
Swearingen joins Lichtsinn RV
Logan Swearingen has recently joined Forest City-based Lichtsinn RV as a service technician. Swearingen graduated from North Iowa and Iowa Lakes, and most recently worked at Winnebago Industries. He is also a volunteer member of the Thompson Fire Department.
Clement joins Triad Realty
Laurel Clement has joined Triad Realty with offices in Clear Lake and Garner. She is an Iowa State graduate with a background in economic development, community planning, housing inspections, and property management.
North Iowa Rotary members donate to Gates Foundation
Incoming Iowa Rotary club presidents in District 5970, largely covering North Iowa, donated $2,000 to The Rotary Foundation’s End Polio Now campaign. The funds will be multiplied by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for a $6,000 donation.
The presidents-elect, who take office in July, contributed the funds during a recent training seminar in Rochester, Minnesota.
Neil Fell, of Garner, is the district governor-elect, and was joined by incoming presidents: Algona: Billie Wille (Alogona), Charles City: Staci Ackerson (Charles City), Clear Lake: Lisa Roth (Clear Lake), Forest City: Karla Weiss (Forest City), Garner: Carol Peterson (Garner), Hampton: Becky Bradburn (Hampton), Mark Meierotto, (Rotary Club of Mason City), and Les Seltun (River City Sunrise, Mason City).
Cargill names Stakeholders of the Year
Cargill announced two Safety Stakeholders of the Year – John Gore and Scott Halsne – for demonstrating leadership and accountability. They were recognized at a recent company-wide safety celebration.
Fareway raises $163,000 for MDA
The Muscular Dystrophy Association of Iowa recently announced that its 2018 Fareway Shamrocks fundraising program raised $163,553. This is the highest donation amount raised through the Shamrock program during the history of the partnership with the grocer.
Bjorklund receives award from CDC
Bethany Bjorklund, immunization nurse with the Cerro Gordo County Department of Public Health, was named the of the 2018 Childhood Immunization Champion Award for Iowa by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The award recognizes individuals who make a significant contribution toward improving public health through their work in childhood immunization.
Bjorklund's efforts contributed to Cerro Gordo County ranking first in the state of Iowa for childhood vaccination rates in 2016, with more than 87 percent of 2-year-olds up-to-date on their immunizations.
Rodamaker selected to attend War College seminar
Marti Rodamaker, president and CEO of First Citizens Bank, will attend the National Security Seminar at the U.S. Army War College at Carlisle Barracks, Penn. Rodamaker was nominated by Ret. Maj. Gen. Gary Wattnem of Mason City.
James graduates from Iowa Tourism Leadership Institute
Lindsey James, executive director of Visit Mason City, graduated from the Iowa Tourism Leadership Institute, which was held April 12-13 in Cedar Rapids. The institute provides Iowa tourism professionals an opportunity to expand their leadership knowledge and skills.
Four join NIACC Foundation Board
The North Iowa Area Community College Foundation announced the addition of four new members to its Board of Directors.
Lindsey Falk, of St. Ansgar, is president of L.R. Falk Construction. He is a graduate of NIACC and earned a bachelor’s degree from Iowa State. Falk and his wife have three children.
John Heilskov, of Hampton, is a certified public accountant with an office in Hampton. He earned degrees NIACC and Iowa. Heilskov and his wife reside in Hampton.
Laurie Shultz, of Greene, is a retiree of Principal Financial Group where she served as vice president 37 years. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Luther College. Shultz and her husband reside in Greene.
David Steffens, Jr., of Lake Mills, is president of Norsemen Trucking, Inc., Norsemen Outdoors, Inc., Norsemen Specialized Division, Inc., and Lake Mills Investors, LTD. He earned a degree from Mankato State University.
Concrete Paving Association honors Henkel project
The Iowa Concrete Paving Association recently recognized Henkel Construction Company for its role in the construction of the Waukee Transportation and Operations Facility parking lot paving project. The project was rated the best Parking Lot PCC Paving Project (projects greater than 15,000 square yards) in the state of Iowa in 2017. Henkel partnered with Absolute Concrete on the project.
Doug's earns Toro award for 2017
Garner's Doug's Small Engine Sales & Service earned the President's Club award for 2017 from Toro. The award recognizes outstanding sales of the line's residential lawn and landscape contractor equipment.
