JOICE | A Buffalo Center man was arrested for driving while intoxicated early New Year's Day, according to law enforcement.

A Worth County Sheriff's deputy stopped Nicholas Troy Anderson, 20, about 1:10 a.m. on Finch Avenue in Joice, according to charging documents.

The deputy said he had been following the vehicle and observed Anderson turning the headlights off and on before turning on hazard lights and stopping on the shoulder, with the rear driver's side tire in the road, court documents say.

Anderson had bloodshot, watery eyes and smelled of alcohol, charging documents said. While in the deputy's vehicle, court documents say Anderson admitted to consuming alcohol.

At the jail, he consented to sobriety testing and provided a breath sample measuring at .086, according to the criminal complaint. Iowa's legal limit is .08.

Anderson was arrested and charged with operating while under the influence — first offense — and driving while revoked.

A court date hasn't been set.
