On Thursday, Nov. 30, West Hancock finished 1-1 in a home triangular with Garner-Hayfield-Ventura and Eagle Grove. The Eagles topped the Cardinals 66-12 and fell to Eagle Grove 51-17.
Bryer Subject, Tate Hagen, Caleb Eckels and Hunter Hagen were each 2-0 on the night for the Eagles.
Subject had a win by technical fall against Eagle Grove and won by fall in his match against GHV. Tate Hagen won by a 6-0 decision against Eagle Grove's Saxon Lyman and had a pin in his other match. Caleb Eckels had an 8-7 win over Eagle Grove's Dylan Kruckenberg and won by forfeit against GHV. Hunter Hagen picked up two wins by forfeit.
Fifth at Okoboji
The Eagles turned in a solid performance at Okoboji Saturday, finishing fifth in a 10-team field.
West Hancock left with two champions: 220-pounder Hunter Hagen and heavyweight Chandler Redenius .
Nathan Cabrera, wrestling at 113 pounds, finished sixth. Dalton Subject (138) finished fifth, Bryer Subject (145) finished fourth, Justin Ausborn (160) placed fifth, Tate Hagen (170) lost in the finals to finish second, Cole Kelly (182) placed fourth, and Caleb Eckels (195) lost in the finals for second place.
On Thursday the Eagles travel to St. Ansgar for a quad with the Saints, Osage and Newman Catholic. On Saturday they travel to Algona for tournament competition.
