The West Hancock wrestling competed at the Martin Family Dual Tournament at Algona on Saturday and walked away with a 2-2 record.
The Eagles had team victories over Forest City 39-34, North Union 45-27 and lost to Algona 42-26 and Eagle Grove 37-32, but three wrestlers would shine individually on the mat.
Tate Hagen (160) went 4-0, pinning Forest City’s Drake Freeman and Eagle Grove’s Evan Anderson.
Caleb Eckels (195) also went undefeated, including pins over Forest City’s Gabe Staudt and Algona’s Jake Teague.
Hunter Hagen (220) capped off the day at 4-0 with pins over Algona’s Noah Murphy and Forest City’s Austin Kelso.
Last Thursday, the Eagles headed to Osage for a quadrangular in which they finished a perfect 3-0. West Hancock picked up a 42-39 win over Osage, topped Newman 40-36 and beat St. Ansgar 34-30.
Chandler Redenius, Hunter Hagen, Eckels and Tate Hagen each went 3-0 on the night. One of Redenius’ wins included a 3-1 win in overtime over St. Ansgar’s Garrett Koster. Tate Hagen had three pins on the night.
