West Hancock has been searching for that big win to get it jump started, and the Eagles nearly got it on Friday.

A shot by the Eagles at the buzzer came up short as the Golden Bears (16-3) held on for the 60-59 victory.

"I was pleased with how our kids played," said West Hancock coach Brian Peterson. "We rebounded Garrigan equal, which is a win our book."

Lucas Weiland led the Eagles with 25 points and 7 rebounds. MaCoy Yeakel finished with 14 points and 8 rebounds.

Additionally, Tristan Hunt had seven points and five rebounds, Gavin Becker scored five, and Joe Smith and Chase Eisenman scored four apiece.

On Thursday, the Eagles picked up a 65-50 win over West Bend-Mallard.

Weiland paced the Eagles with 18 points and nine rebounds, Yeakel scored 16, Hunt added a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Becker and Eisenman added nine and eight points, respectively.

West Hancock rolled to a 58-28 win over Belmond-Klemme on Tuesday, Jan. 30.

Becker was the Eagles' leading scorer with 19 points and Yeakel also finished in double figures with 14.

Also for the Eagles, Smith and Eisenman scored nine points apiece. Eisenman also had seven rebounds.
