In its final week before Class 1A district tournament play, West Hancock was handed three straight losses. The Eagles fell to Bishop Garrigan on Friday and dropped both games of a doubleheader last Wednesday at West Fork.

On Friday, West Hancock let an early lead slip away in an 8-3 loss to Bishop Garrigan. The Eagles scored twice in the first inning and then one more in the third to lead 3-2 after three innings. A five-run sixth innings helped push Garrigan to its win.

Ben Eisenman and Chase Eisenman each finished 2 for 4 at the plate to lead the Eagles, Nick Hunt doubled and drove in a run, and Dylan Eckels and Jordan Weiland each singled. Caleb Eckels, Glen Smith and Hunt scored one run apiece.

Chase Eisenman was handed the loss after allowing five runs on seven hits and two walks in 5 1/3 innings.

In Wednesday’s doubleheader at West Fork, the Eagles were handed losses of 11-0 and 12-2, both of which were in five innings.

In the opener, Caleb Eckels and Smith recorded the lone hits for the Eagles as each smacked a single.

Ben Eisenman struck out three, walked one and allowed 11 runs – five of which were earned – on 10 hits in 3 2/3 innings.

West Fork used two five-run innings to help lead it to its victory in Game 2. West Hancock scored both its runs in the top of the fifth inning.

Smith finished as the Eagles’ top hitter for the game with a 2-for-3 performance with a pair of RBIs.

Ben Eisenman doubled, Dylan Eckels had a single and scored a run, Caleb Eckels had a single, and Gavin Becker scored a run.
