A pair of close battles highlighted the week for the West Hancock boys basketball team. 

On Tuesday, Jan. 9, the Eagles beat Lake Mills 54-52, but not before the Bulldogs fired off a 3-pointer attempt in the closing seconds of the game.

Gavin Becker led the way with 16 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals. MaCoy Yeakel led the team in scoring with 18. 

The Eagles needed a rally on Friday, Jan. 12, to beat Eagle Grove 61-59. 

Becker led the charge with 24 points and 9 rebounds. Yeakel added 16 points. 

Chase Eisenman followed with 11 points and 8 assists. Lucas Weiland had 10 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals.  

West Hancock was scheduled to play at Garner-Hayfield/Ventura on Tuesday, Jan. 16. The Eagles follow that with games at home against North Union (Friday, Jan. 19) and West Bend-Mallard (Monday, Jan. 22).
