The West Hancock boys basketball team had another up-and-down week last week. the Eagles opened the week Tuesday, Dec. 14, with a narrow 57-55 victory over North Iowa. They ended the week with a 73-40 loss at rival Forest City.
In the win over North Iowa, Gavin Becker had himself another outstanding game with a game-high 22 points and nine rebounds. MaCoy Yeakel also finished in double figures with 14 points, and he added five steals and four assists.
Also for the Eagles, Lucas Weiland had seven points and nine rebounds, Tristan Hunt scored four points and grabbed seven boards, and Brayden Leerar and Tanner Thompson chipped in four points apiece.
In Friday's loss to Forest City, the Indians' defense proved too much for West Hancock to overcome as the Eagles never really found their offense. Forest City led 40-25 at halftime and held the Eagles to just 15 second-half points.
Becker led West Hancock with 11 points.
