BRITT — Newman Catholic broke loose from West Hancock in the fourth quarter Tuesday, Dec. 19, and walked away with a 69-50 victory.

“It was a four-point game in the fourth quarter,” West Hancock coach Brian Peterson said. “We are close, but our Achilles Heel is we need to take care of the ball and rebound better. It’s not effort, it’s just execution.”

Gavin Becker had 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Eagles. Chase Eisenman added 11 points and Lucas Weiland finished with 10 points and eight rebounds.

Additionally, Joe Smith added five points and Tristan Hunt scored two.

Josh Fitzgerald led the way for the Knights with 16 points and five assists, Justin Fausnaugh had 13 points, Merritt McCardle scored 12 and grabbed eight rebounds, and Joe Scholl added 10 points of his own.
