In its Class 1A tournament opener Monday, July 3, West Hancock gave it a strong effort to keep its season alive, but ultimately Bishop Garrigan proved a bit too much as the Golden Bears ended the Eagles’ season with a 6-0 victory.

Madison Eisenman pitched one of her best games of the season to give the Eagles a fighting chance. The West Hancock freshman allowed six runs – four of which were earned – on five hits while striking out eight and walking six. It was her second most strikeouts of the season – she twice recorded 10 Ks.

On offense, West Hancock had hits but couldn’t quite string together enough to bring any runs around.

Ryann Hagen, Sydney Hudspeth, Sydney Burgardt, Megan Schreur and Carlee Bruns each singled for the Eagles. Hagen and Hudspeth each had a stolen base.

West Hancock finished its season 0-24.
