DES MOINES | One in seven people admitted to a hospital will end up needing a blood transfusion to survive.
Cancer patients, premature babies, burn victims, surgery patients, and those suffering trauma can all require various blood products during treatment. The need for blood often comes on unexpectedly.
You never know when you might need it, so pay it forward and donate at one of the following blood drives:
• Garner Community Blood Drive, 1 – 6 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 19, at Garner United Methodist Church, 885 Maben Avenue.
• Corwith Community Blood Drive, 3:30 - 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 20, at Corwith Community Center, 110 Wayne Street.
