Darlene K. Francis, age 66 of Faribault, MN, died on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at the Pleasant Manor Nursing home in Faribault, following an extended illness.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 29, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the new location of Parker Kohl Funeral Home, 1725 Lyndale Ave. N., Faribault. Interment will be at the St. Patrick's Cemetery in Britt, IA at a later date.
Darlene Kay was born on February 6, 1951 in Forest City, IA to Michael and Agnes (Ptacek) Kumsher. She graduated from Britt High School with the class of 1969. She was united in marriage to James Frederick Francis on February 7, 1970 and were later divorced. Since 1973 Dar had resided in the Faribault area. She worked as waitress at Mealey's Restaurant in Faribault prior to working for many years in the kitchen at Faribault High School and Taco Fiesta. She worked for a few years at Treasure Cheese Caves and many years at Anna Dee's Café. Dar had worked at the Faribault Wal-Mart since it's opening until her recent illness caused her to take leave.
For the past 22 years, she and Tim Lyman have been special friends and companions. The two enjoyed long drives to many locations including Wabasha, Duluth, Iowa and South Dakota. Dar loved watching her grandchildren's sporting events and being with family made her most happy.
She is survived by her special friend and companion, Tim Lyman of Faribault; children, Dallas (Angela) Francis of Warsaw, MN, and Valerie (Brett) Pommeranz of Faribault; grandchildren, Allison Warwick (Alex Wolff), Tyler Francis, Collin Francis, Nolan Warwick, Jessi Francis, Dustin Pommeranz (Sydney Caron), Sam Pommeranz, and Jack O'Rourke; great granddaughter, Aurora Wolff; five sisters including, Carolyn (Donny) DeKruif of Britt, IA, Judy (Jerry) Thompson of Crystal Lake, IA, and Marilyn Kumsher of Garner, IA; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Agnes; brother, Ronald (Carolyn) Kumsher; and infant grandson, Wyatt Michael.
