BRITT | Students at West Hancock Elementary participated in Dr. Seuss-related Read Across America activities last week. 

The National Education Association's Read Across America Day is a nationwide reading celebration that takes place annually on March 2 -- the birthday of celebrated children's book author Dr. Seuss.

At West Hancock Elementary, most of the activities took place on Wednesday.

Staff and students dressed in wacky clothes based on the Dr. Seuss book "Wacky Wednesday."

Students in one of the fourth-grade classes performed a choral reading for the kindergarten students. 

The children also decorating Dr. Seuss cookies.

Duffy Hudson gave a Dr. Seuss presentation to all the students on Friday.
