BRITT | The Remembering Our Fallen National Memorial, which honors the men and women who died for our country during the post-9/11 era, is coming to Britt April 26-29.
This memorial, which was unveiled in the fall of 2017 on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C., travels around the nation similar to the Vietnam Wall replica.
Britt will be the first community in Iowa where the Tribute Towers Memorial will be displayed.
The memorial is unique in that it features both military and personal photos.
The Britt American Legion Post 315 and Britt VFW Dean Welch 4370 are planning a weekend-long celebration honoring all veterans while the memorial is in town.
At around noon on Thursday, April 26, the memorial will arrive in Britt with a motorcycle escort and driven by a Gold Star Mom.
After set-up, the memorial will be on display 24 hours a day until 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 29.
Country music artist Rockie Lynne will be performing a free concert paying tribute to veterans at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 28.
More information on the weekend activities will be announced later.
Jerry Christensen has been working to bring this memorial to North Iowa and has been raising funds to cover the cost.
Donations can be sent to Britt American Legion Post 315, c/o Jerry Christensen, 153 Second St. N.W., Britt, IA 50423.
