BRITT | Fall has arrived.
And with it comes crisp air, changing leaves and the annual Harvest Hoedown in Britt.
“It’s our kick off to the harvest season with sales in stores,” said Val Quayle at Gifts Sew Sweet on Main Avenue. “It’s really fun for us, businesses, and it’s really fun for the community, too.”
The Harvest Hoedown — in its fourth year — will take place Thursday, Oct. 19. Participating downtown businesses, including stores and restaurants, will be open later for the 3 to 7 p.m. event.
Quayle said the event allows in-town and out-of-town residents who work during the day the opportunity to patronize the downtown stores during the expanded hours.
“It’s gone really well,” she said, noting Main Avenue is usually packed with cars. “It’s grown a little bit larger each year.”
Each participating business does “its own thing,” but Quayle said Gifts Sew Sweet will have discounts, a wine-tasting and other special incentives, while Mayne Salon will offer horse-drawn carriage rides.
“Everyone’s just really excited about it, which is fun to see in a little town,” she said.
