An Autumn Stargazing program will be offered at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, at the entrance to Thorpe Park, five miles west of Forest City on “I”/345th Street.
Winnebago County Naturalist Lisa Ralls will give a tour of the autumn nighttime sky. The summer triangle will be disappearing in the west, but the first of the winter constellations, such as Taurus the Bull and Auriga the Charioteer, will be rising in the east. Year-round constellations like the Big and Little Dippers, and Cassiopeia, will be visible.
People will learn how to identify these constellations and some of the brighter autumn stars, and will receive star charts following the 45-60 minute program. People may bring binoculars and lawn chairs. In case of clouds, the program will be canceled. For information, call Ralls at 641-565-3390 or visit www.winnebagoccb.com
