Author/journalist Brian Leehan will give a presentation at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, at the Greene Public Library on the research and writing of “Roaring Bull: The 34th Infantry Division in the Global War on Terror.”
The 34th Infantry Division Association commissioned Leehan to write this intimate portrait of the “Red Bull” Division’s 16-year service in the Global War on Terror.
Deployments began within three days of the 9/11 attacks and extended to the deserts of Iraq, the mountains of Afghanistan as well as in Bosnia, Kosovo, Sinai, Kuwait.
Through research that included interviews with 57 soldiers from Iowa and Minnesota, Leehan used official reports, satellite photos, maps and more to weave a rich tapestry in the words of the soldiers who lived it.
Leehan was a researcher, writer and editor for the Star Tribune for nearly 20 years.
