Downtown Association given $600 grant
MASON CITY — The Mason City Downtown Association has received a $600 grant by the National Trust for Historic Preservation from the Dr. Frank Henry Landes Preservation Fund. The grant funds will be used to help support a historical walking tour for Mason City.
The Dr. Frank Henry Landes Preservation Fund was established in 2007 through a gift from Dr. Helen L. Luyben in honor of her family’s Iowa roots. The goal of the fund is to provide grants to organizations across the state of Iowa to enable preservation of historic sites, buildings, structures and districts in jeopardy and empower local communities to plan and utilize their historic resources. The grants range from $1,000 to $5,000 and they must be matched at least dollar for dollar with public or private funds.
The National Trust for Historic Preservation is a nonprofit membership organization chartered by Congress to encourage public participation in all aspects of historic preservation.
