Man injured when car hits concrete barrier
CLEAR LAKE — A passenger in a car sought for speeding was injured Sept. 1 when the car hit a concrete barrier just west of the northbound ramp to Interstate 35, off Highway 18.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, a trooper was attempting to stop the vehicle driven by Ali Nour, 27, of Moline, Ill., for a speed violation. The report said the trooper clocked Nour traveling 89 mph in a 65 mph zone. The incident occurred at 9:26 p.m.
When the Nour vehicle began to pull to the right shoulder, the complaint said, he lost control of the vehicle, hit the barriers and then spun around. The car came to rest in the westbound lane of Highway 18.
Injured in the accident was Abdi Abdullahi, 22, no address listed. He was transported to Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, although a spokesman for Mercy said no information about the man was available.
Nour was also cited for failure to maintain control.
